DAE remember when the news said we'd dug up 150,000 year old human footprints, and I just found out the site was in Africa, not England
I was listening to a podcast on my drive to work last week and they brought up the footprints at Happisburgh in Norfolk, and I swore the host said those prints were the oldest outside Africa. Turns out the oldest footprints outside Africa are only about 900,000 years old, which is still wild, but I had it in my head they were the 150,000 year old ones. The ones I was thinking of are at Langebaan in South Africa, and they are way older, like 117,000 years or something. I had to pull the episode back up in the parking lot because I could not let it go, and there it was, spelled out plain as day. It got me thinking about how fast a wrong detail sticks in my brain and then I repeat it to people like I know what I am talking about. Curious if anyone else has a discovery they misremembered and had to go back and fix?
