Dug a site in Arizona with a trowel vs a shovel, and the trowel won
Last month our crew split up at a site near Tucson and I got stuck with the trowel while the others used shovels. The shovel folks pulled out big chunks fast but cracked two pieces of pottery, while I found a full shell bead at 40 cm without breaking anything. Has anyone else had luck going slower when the site is mostly fragile stuff?
