I spent years thinking the big, flashy finds were the only thing that mattered. Then I saw a broken clay pot handle in a museum in Tucson that changed my whole view.

My buddy had a similar thing happen with an arrowhead. He was always after perfect, museum quality pieces. Then he found a tiny, broken one in a creek, just a little triangle of flint. He said holding it, knowing someone made it and used it, hit him harder than any perfect point in a case. It wasn't about the object being whole anymore. It was about the connection to the person who left it behind.
