I thought the 'lost city' story from that dig in New Mexico was just hype, but the pottery shards they found last month changed my mind.

Oh man, I totally get that feeling! I once spent a whole weekend helping a friend look for arrowheads in a field. My big find was a weirdly shaped rock that was definitely just a rock. I was so proud of it until he broke the news. That little piece of pottery is proof you weren't just moving dirt around all day. It makes all the hard work worth it.

Man, pottery shards will do that. I got talked into a volunteer day at a site in Arizona once. Spent eight hours sifting dirt in the sun, found one tiny piece of a bowl rim. Felt like I'd won the lottery. It's just a brown chip, but it makes the whole thing real.
