My trowel choice at the dig site finally clicked after 11 seasons
Back in March at the Oak Creek site, I had to pick between a 4-inch margin trowel and a 2-inch pointing trowel for cleaning around the hearth feature. I grabbed the bigger one thinking it would cover more ground, but it kept scraping past the charcoal lines I needed to preserve. Halfway through the afternoon I switched to the small one, and it worked like a charm for the tight corners. Has anyone else had a tool that felt wrong for years until the right context showed up?
