PSA: I thought pottery styles were just decoration until a dig in Tucson last month
Tbh I spent a week at a site near Tucson where a grad student showed me how a shift in rim shape on 40 sherds lined up with a trade route change, and it clicked that styles are basically old receipts. Ngl it made me want to retake the ceramics class I slept through in college, so what got you into the lab side of things?
