Spent $60 on a ground-penetrating radar rental for my backyard dig

I was trying to find an old well on my property that was supposedly buried since the 1920s. The rental place had a basic unit for $60 per day, so I figured why not try it. After crawling around for two hours, it pinged on something about 4 feet down near the oak tree. Turns out it was just a rusted out water tank from the 1950s, not the well at all. Has anyone else had misleading results from consumer grade GPR gear?

My buddy thought he found buried treasure in his backyard but it was just an old septic tank.

Tell @lily574 to call the utility company before digging next time, my neighbor hit the same nasty surprise last year.
