The 3D scan of Pompeii's plaster casts missed the real story

I read that report from the 2023 scans of the casts, and everyone's excited about the facial reconstruction. But nobody's talking about how the plaster itself is chemically altering the bone fragments inside, which makes future DNA testing basically useless. We're trading one kind of data for another without asking if that's a fair swap. Has anyone else seen the raw data from the University of Naples team, or is it just the press release? The number they cited, 86 casts, still strikes me as low for how many bodies were actually recovered.
