The Clovis First theory still needs more pushback

Three years ago I was at a dig in South Carolina and we found a point that predated Clovis by maybe 2,000 years. Everyone there was real quiet about it because the textbooks still push Clovis First so hard. Has anyone else seen artifacts that don't fit that timeline?

Respectfully, I see it a little different. There's been a real shift the last decade or so, with more sites like Debra L. Friedkin in Texas and the one in South Carolina getting published in peer reviewed journals. @noah_palmer42 has a point about funding being tied to older models, but the pushback on Clovis First has been gaining ground through careful fieldwork and newer dating methods. It's slow work, but the evidence is stacking up in places like the Topper site and Meadowcroft Rockshelter. We just need more of these sites to be excavated and written up so the textbooks can finally catch up.

Quiet about it" sounds like the official motto of archaeology.

ngl @the_mia it's less "quiet about it" and more "good luck getting funding if anyone finds out.
