The dig in my backyard changed my view on old pottery

Honestly, I used to think shards of ceramic were just clutter, nothing worth a second look. Last month, I dug up a few pieces near my fence line in Austin and found a stamp on one that matched a local 1800s kiln. Took them to a community archaeology talk and the volunteer dated them to 1872, which blew my mind. Now I get why people obsess over a tiny curve or glaze, it tells a whole story. Has anyone else found something in their yard that made them reconsider what they thought was trash?

Yeah, that stamp part got me. My buddy found an old soda bottle in his flower bed, turned out it was from a closed local bottling plant. He keeps it on his shelf now, calls it his treasure.
