Guy at a library sale in Cleveland said he finds better stuff by searching the ISBN than the title, and now I feel dumb
I was at this book sale last month and overheard him tell a friend that typing the title only gets you the popular printing, but the ISBN pulls up every edition, including the weird ones nobody scanned right. I tried it on a 1962 atlas when I got home and found 4 listings in 2 minutes that never showed up under the normal search. Tried the same trick with old sheet music and got nothing though, so it clearly only works for some stuff. What other fields are hiding in plain sight like that, the call number, the publisher, what?

Man, this is the same thing that happens with part numbers on old tools and appliances, the number gets you straight to the exact thing while the name just drowns you in junk. Same deal at estate sales with the maker's mark, nobody photographs the bottom but that stamp is where the money is.
