Just realized that $40 I dropped on a library card at the University of Michigan was the best search money I ever parted with

I'm not a student there, but for 40 bucks a year they let regular folks walk in and use the whole research database setup. It burned me at first because I figured Google Scholar had it all covered, but that subscription got me into JSTOR and a few old newspaper archives that were totally locked down otherwise. I tracked down my grandpa's 1952 steelworker injury report in about 20 minutes because of it. Anybody know of other schools around Detroit that sell cheap access like that?
