The $18 hand-crank pasta roller I dismissed as a gimmick is now my favorite kitchen tool

About two months ago my sister gave me this cheap hand-crank pasta roller from an estate sale. I rolled my eyes and put it in the back of the pantry. Last Saturday I finally pulled it out because my mixer attachment broke and I had friends coming over for fresh noodles. One hour later I made better fettuccine than I ever did with the electric one. The texture was just chewier and the dough didn't heat up and get sticky. Now I use it every Sunday and I'm honestly annoyed at myself for ignoring it for so long. Has anyone else found a tool they wrote off as junk that ended up outperforming the fancy version?

Same thing happened to me with an old hand-crank flour sifter, now it's all I use.
