Asked my neighbor to water my plants for a week in July and came home to a swamp
So I was in Kansas City for a family reunion the last week of July, and I asked the guy next door to water my porch plants. I gave him the whole rundown before I left: two gallons on the tomatoes, one on the peppers, skip the herbs if it rains. He nodded the whole time like he got it. I came back to find my tomato plants floating in about four inches of standing water because he'd been dumping the whole watering can every single day and it rained twice while I was gone. The peppers were straight up drowned, leaves yellow and dropping off. I didn't say anything at first, just tipped the pots over on the driveway to drain them and dug out the mud. Two of the four tomatoes pulled through, but I lost the peppers completely. I still feel bad because he meant well and kept saying he was just trying to be careful. Anyone got a simple way to leave watering instructions that a well meaning neighbor can't mess up?
