Chat with my neighbor Bill changed my mind about wood stoves

I always thought wood stoves were dirty and a pain to deal with. But Bill down the street has a new EPA certified one from 2022. He showed me how it burns so clean there's barely any smoke, and he only cleans the chimney once a year. He said his heating bill dropped from $280 a month to $40 in propane. That math is hard to argue with. Anyone here switch to a modern wood stove and see real savings?

That $40 a month figure seems almost too good to be true, did he confirm that's year round?

My buddy signed up for that plan last spring and swore it was legit. He showed me his billing statement and everything, it came out to exactly $40 a month for a whole year. But here's the thing - he had to pay for the whole year upfront, not month to month. And they added some setup fees on top that bumped the first payment to like $80 or something. Still a good deal if you can swing the lump sum though, he's been bragging about it nonstop.
