Just flushed $50 down the toilet on a fancy door lock
Bought a smart lock from Home Depot last month. Thought it would be amazing. Keypad, app, the whole deal. Installed it in 20 minutes. Worked great for 3 days. Then the app stopped connecting. Then the keypad died. Now I'm back to using the physical key. $50 completely wasted. Anyone else get burned by a smart home gadget that just didn't deliver?

Oh man, I was totally on the other side of this argument for years. I used to tell everyone smart locks were the future and totally worth it. Then I bought a similar one from Lowe's and had the exact same thing happen. Worked perfect for a week, then the Bluetooth just stopped pairing and the touchpad got all glitchy in humid weather. Now I'm back to a regular deadbolt and honestly it's way less hassle. No more fighting with an app that needs an update or a battery that dies at the worst time. So yeah, you're not alone on this one.

You said "no more fighting with an app that needs an update or a battery that dies at the worst time." That part hit me hard. What was the final straw for you? For me it was getting locked out in the rain at 11pm with a dead phone battery. That's when I ripped the thing off my door with a screwdriver. Did you go through something similar or just slowly get fed up over time?
