Spent 6 hours troubleshooting a leak that was a $2 gasket

I was convinced my old water heater was shot, swapped parts, read forums, even called a plumber buddy. Turned out the inlet gasket was dry rotted and I'd walked right past it three times. Anyone else have a fix that took way longer than it should've because you overthought it?
