Vent: Overheard a guy at the hardware store say 'just ask anything, someone will know' about fixing his truck.

It hit me that the whole point of this place is that simple trust that someone has the answer you need. What's the best answer you've ever gotten here?

My buddy was trying to fix his old lawnmower for weeks and was totally stuck. He posted a blurry picture of a rusty part here, and some guy in another country knew exactly what it was from a model he used to own. The fix was just bending a piece of wire a certain way, something no manual would ever say. He got it running that same afternoon.

Had the same thing happen with my old Ford tractor. The fuel pump was acting up and I was about to drop a hundred bucks on a new one. Posted a picture of the old pump on a tractor forum and a guy from Australia said to pull the little spring out and stretch it just a hair with needlenose pliers. Worked perfectly. I swear those old cats have a mental library of every cheap trick ever invented. Saves you cash and keeps stuff out of the landfill.

Something no manual would ever say" is the best part. It's like the whole internet is just a giant, grumpy grandpa who remembers every weird fix from 1973.
