Warning: My kid's show-and-tell turned into a fire safety question marathon

Brought my helmet to my son's class for show-and-tell. One kid asked if firefighters ever get scared, and suddenly I was fielding questions about ghosts in fire stations. The teacher had to cut us off for snack time.

Seriously? Ghosts in the fire station is where their minds went? That's a wild turn from the helmet. The teacher calling snack time to stop the haunted questions is honestly perfect.

Always cracks me up how kids will take something totally normal and find the deepest questions in it. Like we're all just doing regular stuff until someone asks about ghosts and suddenly we're talking about real stuff. Maybe the best conversations just happen in the most random moments.

I get what you're saying, but sometimes those deep kid questions are just about ghosts because they saw a scary movie. My nephew asked if our toaster was haunted after watching some cartoon. It wasn't a real conversation starter, it was just a weird fear. A lot of times they're not looking for a deep talk, they just want to know if something is safe. The magic is when an adult actually listens and turns it into something more.
