Why does nobody mention USB-C cables just dying for no reason

I built a new PC last month and had three separate USB-C cables fail on me in two weeks, but the last one took me 4 days to figure out because it worked for power but not data. Turns out the wires inside had broken, and I only caught it after testing with a multimeter from Harbor Freight. This was in my home office in Tucson, not even a dusty shop or anything weird. Has anyone else had these cables fail in the middle for no visible reason, or am I just unlucky with the cheap ones?
