Blew $150 on a star tracker mount that I used exactly once before it started drifting off target
Should have just bought a used one from a forum member or saved for a better model instead of rushing into the cheapest new one.

Borrowing a buddy's mount first is smart. I read this article about how most people buy the wrong saddle their first time because they dont get enough real riding time with different styles. @betty_shah, thats exactly why testing before buying makes sense. You can figure out if you need a wider seat or a different tree shape without wasting money. Most folks just grab whats on sale and end up with back pain or a sore horse. Its way better to borrow and learn from someone elses mistakes first.
