Finally got a decent shot of the Orion Nebula from my backyard in Tucson after switching to a 2-inch light pollution filter.

A 2-inch light pollution filter, huh? Sounds like you had to declare war on the Tucson city lights just to see some stars. That's a serious piece of gear for a backyard. The result looks great though, totally worth the fight.

Actually Tucson's not too bad for a city, the desert skies help a lot. That filter just cleans things up nicely.

That filter probably helps with the specific sodium vapor streetlights Tucson still uses in some areas. They put out a really narrow band of orange light that's easier to block than modern LEDs. You're fighting the last war, but it's a war you can actually win. The new full spectrum LED streetlights they're installing everywhere are a whole different problem for filters.
