Got my first real telescope last month, drove two hours to a dark sky spot, and then a cloud bank rolled in right as Jupiter was at its highest point. I mean, come on.

Went with a basic 6-inch Dobsonian, honestly perfect for starting out. The views are solid and it's way easier to set up than I thought it would be lol.

@abby_martin28 Probably a fair point on the telescope choice, but come on, is it really that serious? You drove two hours, a cloud rolled in, big deal. That's just life with astronomy, happens all the time. I've had clear skies for weeks and still missed Jupiter because I forgot to check the moon phase. Just wait another month and try again, no need to act like the universe hates you.
