Spent 4 hours trying to stack a Milky Way panorama only to realize my tripod was slightly crooked

Last weekend out near Cherry Springs, I set up my camera for a 3-row panorama of the Milky Way. After taking 24 frames and getting home, I spent 4 hours in Photoshop trying to stitch them together with no luck. Turned out my tripod head was tilted maybe 2 degrees off level, so none of the rows overlapped right. Has anyone else had a whole night of photos ruined by something that small?

Bent my leveling base once and didn't notice until three hours of stars were useless.
