That $400 tracking mount for my DSLR - best investment or total waste?
I picked up a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer last spring for about $400, and honestly I'm torn on it. On clear nights it lets me get 3-minute exposures of the Orion Nebula that look sharp, but the polar alignment setup takes me 20 minutes and half the time I'm fighting wind or battery drain. Anyone else find these little mounts worth the hassle for deep sky shots, or should I have just saved for a proper EQ mount?
