Learned the hard way about pine straw depth in my mulch beds

I switched from bark mulch to pine straw last spring in my Decatur backyard, thinking it was the cheaper option. Turned out I laid it too thin, about 2 inches, and by August the weeds were having a party. Took me a Saturday to redo it at 4 inches and now it actually holds up through the summer. Anyone else had to adjust how much pine straw they use down here?

Nah, you just need better weed killer and less straw, 2 inches is plenty if you treat the ground first.
