Saw my neighbor's gutter guards fail after one storm on Collier Rd, now I check mine twice a year
I was walking my dog past a house on Collier Road last month when I saw water pouring over the gutters during a heavy rain. The owner came out and said he had paid $1,200 for gutter guards two years ago that were supposed to be maintenance free. Turns out pine needles and shingle grit still got under them and clogged everything up. I went home and checked my own gutters for the first time in about 8 months, and sure enough there was a solid mat of leaves sitting right at the downspout. Now I get up on the ladder every spring and fall before the rainy season hits, guards or no guards. It takes me maybe 40 minutes with a scoop and a hose. Anyone else find that those guards just give you a false sense of security around here?
