That time I flipped my RZR on a steep hill in Moab
Last August I was riding out near Hells Revenge in Moab and tried to climb this really steep slickrock section. I misjudged the line and my front tires lifted right off the ground, flipping the whole thing on its side. I had to cut the engine fast and luckily some guys on dirt bikes helped me rock it back over. Bent my tie rod pretty bad but I managed to limp it back to the trailer doing about 5 mph. Cost me $120 for a new tie rod and a full afternoon of wrenching in the desert heat. Has anyone else had a close call on a sketchy climb like that?

Oh man, that sounds like a rough one. I think a lot of people forget that in Moab especially, the heat just makes everything worse when you're stuck fixing something. You're already frustrated and then you're sweating buckets. What I haven't seen anyone mention is how lucky you got that it was just a tie rod. Those rocks are sharp and if it had landed on the frame or the suspension arm you could have been looking at a cracked axle housing or worse. I've seen guys flip and end up with a bent roll cage that costs way more than a hundred bucks to fix. The other thing is that sometimes the real danger isn't even the flip itself, it's the scramble to get the vehicle upright again if you're alone. Having those dirt bikers show up was a lifesaver, they probably kept you from getting heat stroke too. Anyway, glad you made it out with just a story and a cheap repair.

That's a good point, but Moab's actually not that hot compared to other desert spots.
