TIL swapping from a rigid axle to a swing arm changed my whole riding style on trails
I used to fight my old Sportsman 500 through every root and rock because that solid rear end just bounced me all over the place. After 3 rides on my buddy's Polaris with the independent rear suspension, I realized I was gripping the bars way too tight and never letting the machine work for me. Has anyone else noticed a big difference in how they take corners after switching suspension types?

Started loosening my grip after switching to a swing arm and suddenly felt like I could actually flow through stuff instead of just surviving it. Made me realize I'd been working against the machine the whole time.

@milabaker I get what you're saying but hard disagree here. That solid axle on my old KingQuad made me a better rider because I had to pick lines carefully and commit. Swing arm lets you get lazy with steering input, just lean and pray the suspension saves you. Took me a season on an IRS machine to realize I was losing speed in corners because the rear end squats instead of biting. Ended up swapping back to the rigid axle after a year. Different strokes for different folks, but I miss the feedback that keeps you honest.
