Trail riding with tire pressure too high for years
Rode my Honda 420 for 3 years. Always kept tires at 15 psi like my truck. Buddy from work came riding with me last month out near Flagstaff. He asked why I was bouncing all over. Dropped them to 8 psi and the difference was night and day. Way more grip in the loose stuff. Who else ran their tires way too hard for way too long?

Hold up, 15 psi? That's basically a rock hard balloon on a trail.

I had my Polaris Sportsman at 18 psi for two full seasons out near Moab because the manual said max load was 20 psi. Friend said I was practically drifting every corner in the washouts. Dropped to 10 psi and finally felt what people meant by "float" on sand. But here's the thing, I still keep them at 14 psi for highway stretches because the lower pressure makes the tread squirm and wear uneven. Maybe your buddy just likes a loose steering feel and calls it grip.
