Am I the only one who thinks insurance adjusters are writing off stuff that used to be an easy fix?
Had a kid bring in a 2019 Civic with a dented rear quarter panel and a cracked bumper cover, and the adjuster cut him a check for $2,800 to replace both panels outright. I asked why not just pull the quarter and refinish it, and he shrugged and said it was faster to write it off than argue the repair. That bugged me for a couple days, because I know a guy in Akron who would have had that quarter straight in two hours with a stud gun and a spoon. It got me thinking about how many good panels end up in a scrap pile just because a claim number needs to close fast. Are you guys seeing more total-out math on stuff that is clearly fixable, or is it just around here?
