Can we talk about those plastic weld kits for bumper repair?

I always thought they were a cheap shortcut that wouldn't hold up. Then my buddy at the shop in Dayton used one on a 2015 Civic's cracked bumper and told me to check it in a month. I did, and the repair was still solid after 90 days of normal driving. He used a specific two-part epoxy from a kit called 'PlastiFix' with a mesh backing. Now I'm wondering if I've been too quick to dismiss them for small, non-structural cracks. What's your take on when a plastic weld is good enough versus when it absolutely needs a full replacement?

Honestly it's like that with a lot of stuff now. We get told to just replace things, but sometimes a decent fix is right there if you look. Tbh for a bumper crack, if it's not in a spot taking all the stress, why not try the weld first?

Weld a plastic bumper? That stuff melts like a cheap grocery bag.
