Customer told me my filler work was "too smooth" and I thought he was joking

Guy brings in his old F-150 with a dented bedside. I do my usual blocking routine, get it glass smooth before primer. He looks at it and says "that's the problem, it's too perfect, now it won't match the rest of the truck." I laughed until I realized he was serious. Dude wanted me to leave texture in the filler to match his 20 year old factory orange peel. I had to literally go back and scuff the repair with 80 grit in a crosshatch pattern to make it look "right." Has anyone else had a customer ask you to make the repair look worse on purpose?

Old school painters call that "orange peel matching" and it's a real thing.

That's so specific lol. @foster.ruby has me realizing I've been staring at my walls way too long now trying to spot the texture differences. My living room wall looks like a golf ball exploded on it and I never even noticed until this thread.
