I was sure those plastic dent puller kits were junk until my neighbor's kid proved me wrong

For the longest time, I thought those cheap glue-on dent puller kits were just a gimmick for people who didn't know better. I've been doing this for a while and always reached for my slide hammer or PDR tools for anything bigger than a door ding. Then my neighbor's teenage son, who's trying to learn, showed up with a dent on his Civic's quarter panel from a shopping cart. He bought a $30 kit online and asked if I could watch him try it. I figured I'd let him learn the hard way, but after he heated the glue, set the puller, and gave it a steady tug, the dent came out about 90% clean. It wasn't perfect, but for a quick fix on a shallow dent, it actually worked. I had to eat my words. Has anyone else had a good result with those kits on a specific type of damage, or was this just a lucky fluke?

Saw my buddy use one on a crease from a bike handlebar on his truck door. It popped right out, no joke.

That's wild, @rowanf64. It's crazy how often the right simple tool can fix something you'd think needs a pro. Why does it feel like we're all just one YouTube video away from being a mechanic?
