Saw a guy at the Pick n Pull in Phoenix spraying rattle can primer over bare metal with no prep
Stopped by the yard off 27th Ave looking for a door and watched this dude scuff nothing, wipe nothing, just fog primer right over rust and call it done. That job is gonna bubble up inside 3 months and he will blame the paint. What do you all say to someone who swears prep is a waste of time?
Laugh at the guy all you want but half the rust bucket cars at that yard got driven in there running fine with way worse paint than his primer job. Primer over rust actually sticks better than primer over shiny clean metal sometimes since the rust gives it something to bite into. Worst case it bubbles in a year and he scuffs it and does it again, it's a pickup door not a show car.
