Showerthought: I blew $300 on a cheap infrared paint curing lamp that crapped out after two uses.
Part of me says you get what you pay for, but another part thinks even budget tools should last more than a week. Anyone know a reliable brand for a small shop?

What if the real problem is expecting professional results from a cheap tool? Sometimes the budget option is just for a test run, not daily work. You might need to accept that a real shop tool costs real money.

You know, I always thought you could just force a cheap tool to work if you were good enough. But @the_wendy is right, that's a bad way to look at it. I burned through two budget sanders in a month on a big project before I gave up. The cheap one is fine for seeing if you like the hobby, but it just can't hold up for real work.
