That one week where everything went right and I almost didn't trust it

Last Tuesday I had a 2015 Ford Focus come in with a rear bumper that was totally smashed in from a parking lot hit and run. I quoted the guy about 800 bucks for the repair and paint match, and he didn't even blink. He just handed me the keys and said take your time. That never happens, you know? Normally it's a lot of back and forth about price or how fast can I get it done. Then on Thursday I had a Civic with a dented quarter panel that I was dreading because those curves are a pain. But the pull came out clean and the primer layed down perfect on the first coat with no runs. By Friday afternoon both cars were done and the customers picked them up happy. I sat in my shop for like ten minutes just waiting for something to go wrong. Has anyone else had a week that felt too easy and it weirded you out?

My buddy Mike runs a small landscaping crew, and he told me about a week last spring that went so smooth it spooked him. Tuesday they showed up at a job and the customer had already marked all the sprinkler lines with flags so they wouldn't hit them. Wednesday a big rental delivery showed up a day early by accident and they got a discount on the equipment. Friday they finished a retaining wall two hours ahead of schedule and the homeowner tipped them 200 bucks cash. He said he spent the whole weekend waiting for a check to bounce or a truck to break down on the highway. Nothing bad happened, and it bothered him more than if something had actually gone wrong.

Wait, has he ever had a month like that? It's so wild when everything just lines up perfectly and you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I had a similar thing happen last summer with my side gig cleaning gutters. One day a homeowner came out and handed me a coffee and a muffin before I even started, then the next job the owner had already moved all their outdoor furniture out of the way for me. By Friday I found a 50 dollar gift card under my windshield wiper with a note saying "thanks for being on time." I literally called my brother that night like "something's gotta give, right?" But nope, nothing bad happened. It's honestly more stressful when things go too well because your brain just can't accept it.
