The Monday that took 3 days to fix because of a 2 inch dent

Last Tuesday a customer brought in a 2018 Camry with a tiny door ding, but the quarter panel behind it had serious rot hiding underneath. I quoted $900 for the repair, but after I pulled the trim the whole inner structure was mush. Ended up fabricating a patch panel from scratch, took me 14 hours over 3 days instead of the 6 I planned. The customer kept calling asking why it wasn't done, and I had to explain rust doesnt care about your schedule. Has anyone else had a small job snowball into a full restoration project like that?
