Took me 7 hours to fix a door gap that should have been 30 minutes
I was working on a 2018 Ford F-150 driver door that was sitting too high. Thought I just needed to adjust the hinges a little. Ended up finding the hinge pins were worn out and the door shell had shifted by 3/16 of an inch. Has anyone else dealt with a simple alignment turning into a full hinge replacement job?

...man that sounds about right for these newer Fords. I had a '16 F-150 where I just wanted to tweak the passenger door gap and next thing I know I'm pulling the whole hinge set off. @gracecarr hit it nail on the head with that butter knife description... my top pin was so sloppy it wouldn't even hold a socket. Ended up reaming the bracket 1/8 inch over just to get the new pin to sit tight. Never a quick fix.

Had a buddy with a similar thing on an old Silverado. Took him all afternoon to swap out those hinge pins and shim the door back right. He said the top pin was so worn it felt like a butter knife in a hole. Ended up having to drill out the bracket just to get the new pin to seat straight.
