Hit 500 wash hours on my rotary, the counter finally paid off

Been keeping a simple log on my phone for every vehicle I polish. This morning I added up the numbers and got to 500 total hours with my rotary since I started tracking back in March. That's 212 cars, 47 with heavy correction. I always thought I was faster than I am, but seeing the real average of about 2.4 hours per car made me realize where I waste time. Turns out my door jambs take twice as long as they should because I'm careless with taping. Has anyone else tracked their actual labor hours and found a surprise like that?

Wait, you kept track for this long without noticing the door jambs sooner? My rotary time is way more honest than my brain gives me credit for. I thought I was at like 45 minutes a car, but the clock says 1:40 once you count prep and cleanup. The real shocker was how much time I burn on trim tape, probably 20 minutes a car just fighting with the cheap stuff.

Honestly the biggest fix for me was timing each step separately for a week, turns out I was spending way too long on wheels because I kept wandering back to check polish residue. Breaking it down made me cut the fluff and now I shave almost 30 minutes off the average car.
