Appreciation post: A salvage yard in Memphis changed how I see old parts
I was pulling a door panel at a yard off Lamar Avenue last week and noticed they had a whole section of 90s GM column shifters, each tagged with the exact VIN they came from, which convinced me there's real value in cataloging even common parts.

Man, that's a great point. It turns a pile of junk into a real inventory you can actually trust. I wonder if they do that for the whole car, like having a folder with pictures of how everything was routed before they pulled it.

My buddy did this with a '67 Mustang he restored, took over 200 photos of every bolt and wire before disassembly. It saved him so much headache when putting it back together, honestly seems like the only smart way to do a full rebuild.
