Changed my mind on torque wrenches after a $150 one saved a head gasket job
I used to think torque wrenches were overpriced hype and that snugging bolts by feel was good enough. Then a customer's Subaru came in with a leaking head gasket, and my buddy let me borrow his $150 click-type wrench to reinstall the heads to spec. Those bolts needed a two-stage sequence at exact values, and I would have been guessing the whole way without it. Figured out fast that a $150 tool beats a $1,200 comeback any day. What torque wrench do you all trust for aluminum heads, or am I better off going digital?
