I fixed a 2017 F-150 with a bad coil pack two ways and one was a joke

First try was just swapping the coil, but the rough idle came back in a week. The second time I pulled the spark plug too and found it was fouled with oil from a bad valve cover gasket. Cost the customer an extra $80 for the gasket and plug, but it actually fixed the problem for good. Anyone else get tired of just chasing the easy part swap?

Used to just swap parts myself, but a job like yours taught me to look deeper first.

Ever wonder if the real skill is knowing when not to fix something at all? Sometimes a deeper look shows the whole system is worn out, not just one part. Swapping pieces then is just a waste of time and money.
