Independent shop vs. dealer for a 15-year-old truck, I picked the local guy
My 2010 F-150 needed a transmission rebuild in Tulsa, and the dealer quoted me $4,800 while the independent shop said $3,200 with a 12-month warranty. I went with the independent shop and the truck has shifted fine for 4 months now, so I'm wondering if anyone else has had better luck with dealer work on older rigs or if I just got lucky.
