Just read that some modern cars have over 100 million lines of code
I was looking up a wiring diagram for a 2023 model and saw a footnote about the software. It said the average new car has more code than a fighter jet. That's insane to me. We're basically mechanics and part-time IT guys now. How do you even start to learn that side of the job?

Yeah, and it's not just cars. My fridge has an error code that needs a software reset. Everything's got a computer now, so fixing stuff means googling forum posts instead of just turning a wrench.

Tell me about it, @nathan_thompson62. I spent an hour trying to get my smart thermostat to connect again last week. Had to dig through some old forum from 2015 just to find the magic button combo. I mean, it's wild that you need a degree in tech support just to make your house warm. Feels like the stuff we own is fighting back sometimes. Maybe it's just me, but I miss when fixing things was more about loose wires and less about secret reset codes.
