Lead mechanic told me my valve adjustments were off by 0.002", changed how I feel about feeler gauges

He said stop rushing through it and double check every gap, now my cam lobes actually look clean after 20k miles, anyone else get told they were too sloppy with lash settings?

Nah, 0.002 is well within spec and you can feel it just fine without going full perfectionist.

Still well within spec" sure, but the real difference is how much time you put into the rest of the setup. @barnes.jamie I think chasing that extra .001 is just a distraction when the barrel or stock could be the actual problem. Get the basics dialed first, then worry about the tiny numbers if you still care.
