My buddy told me to just whack the starter with a hammer on a '98 Civic
He said it would get me home, and I laughed thinking he was joking. This was two days ago on a side street near the old hardware store. I was stuck, so I gave it three solid taps with a 16 ounce ball peen. The thing fired right up and I drove it straight to my bay. Turns out the solenoid was just stuck, and the hammer trick actually works sometimes as a temporary fix. Has anyone else had a 'dumb' piece of advice from a friend that actually saved your skin?
