My shop in Toledo still uses the old paper repair orders and I think it's better

Last month, a storm knocked out our internet for two days. The guys with the tablets were stuck, but we just kept writing on the carbon copies. We got through 12 cars that day with zero delays. I know the digital systems track everything, but when the power goes out, a pen and paper still work. Has anyone else had to fall back on the old ways recently?

Check your tablet's offline mode first.

Yeah, and if that's on, try restarting the whole thing.

Oh man, I actually just read an article about this exact thing. Apparently a ton of school-issued tablets have a secret offline mode that parents don't even know about. Some districts are using it to block kids from downloading stuff when they're not on the school network, but if you accidentally leave it on, your tablet basically bricks at home. I had a student last week whose tablet wouldn't open any apps, and it turned out the offline mode was the culprit. It's buried in some random settings menu too, not where you'd normally look. So yeah, that is a solid first step before you go factory resetting everything.
