Rant: That $700 scan tool gave me a false misfire code on a Chevy in Tulsa
Last Tuesday I chased a P0300 for three hours on an '09 Silverado before realizing the tool's crank sensor readout was garbage, so has anyone else had to double-check their fancy scanner against a $15 multimeter?

Hold on, I see it the other way around. That $700 tool probably showed you a real problem, just not the one you wanted. Cheap multimeters can miss the random, intermittent stuff that a PCM picks up as a P0300, so I'd trust the scanner for finding the issue, then use the meter to confirm the fix.
