Rolled past 50,000 miles on my shop truck this morning without realizing it

I was halfway to a job site and glanced down to see the odometer flip right at 50k. Anyone else ever catch a random milestone like that and feel weirdly proud of a beater truck?

I had a buddy who bought a used truck with 50,000 miles on it, thought he was getting a steal. Two months later the transmission started slipping, and the repair bill was almost as much as he paid for the whole truck. He found out later the previous owner used it to tow a heavy trailer every weekend without ever changing the transmission fluid. A truck with 50,000 miles can be fine, but it really depends on how those miles were put on and what kind of maintenance was done. I'd say it's a bigger deal than most people think, especially if you don't know the truck's history.
